Habib Beye Watch - festive round-up

The Beyewatch boys breathed a sigh of relief at the end of the advent calendar songs effort (which was a massive undertaking). Bongo and I took a break to eat turkey, drink beer and be ill! We hope the lack of match build-ups and reports over Christmas didn't effect you too much. We guess you've been too busy eating turkey, drinking beer and being ill.

First off at St James came Liverpool between Christmas and New Year. There's an old phrase; least said soonest mended, and we can't help but think even at full strength we would have struggled to cope with Liverpool. The reds brought their first genuine title contending team to Newcastle and enjoyed a special buffet of goals. It could have been 10 at half time...

Next came Hull away in the magical FA Cup. Unfortunately the North East magic appeared to be saved for Blyth Spartans cup run as Newcastle and Hull served up a turkey of a game. With no performances of note we were lucky to earn a replay at St James'. We can only hope for better in the replay with a fantastic opportunity in the 5th round to progress and avoid the big boys.

So, uninspiring form taking us to the New Year. Let's hope we can patch a team together with which to give Zola's Hammers a shock!
