Steven Taylor put in a decent performance as Habib Beye's understudy to score one and make one in a spirited comeback against an Everton side two up at one point. Kinnear's Magpies showed plenty of heart to score at the perfect times, reaching parity with the home team early in the second half.
The game swang between both teams with the visitors leaving the happiest of the two in the end. An impressive return from Guthrie helped the Newcastle team piece together decent spells of possession and Duff, Owen and N'Zogbia provided a decent threat.
The midfield battle proved key to proceedings with the Toffees picking up yellow cards for a number of niggly fouls which reflected the home fans frustrations.
All in all a very encouraging performance. With Beye due back in the team soon, our first 11 is getting stronger with every game. Joe must be delighted!

Kevin, i would only disagree by saying that Owen was a passenger. He's beginning to really P*ss me off. £120k a week? Outrageous
Bro P
Owen didn't have the best of games but has had a decent goals record so far this season, and has probably been our best player. £120k a week is outrageous though for anyone, and anyone who is paid such a wage should expect criticism for any dip in form.
A good point brother bongo - MO has chipped in with his share of goals so far, and we'd be even worse off without him.
I still don't think we're getting our money's worth though, and i'd not be disappointed in the least if he does one at the end of the season.
Andy cole proved you don't necessarily have to be a good footballer to stick it in the net, (although in fairness there isn't a wealth of goalscoring talent around), so we should be confident that we could sign a replacement relatively easily, it's not as if MO is the whippet he once was.
Who knows, Sh*tsco might be the man
Much love
P
I think letting him go and keeping hold of him depends on who takes over and when we get taken over. I doubt we'd be able to keep him without a very rich backer, and then if we get a rich backer we could buy someone else anyway. hmmmmmmmmmm
Letting MO leave on a free/very low price, would be a big mistake, he is a genuine goalscorer and can pop up from anywhere and bang 1 in out of nowhere. i think once the takeover is sorted, we should try tie him down before someone gets themselves a bargain. Proven goalscorers are hard 2 find anywhere, especially finding someone 2 do it in Prem.
