The Sun reports that Newcastle and Everton are locked in a battle to sign Pascal Chimbonda from Spurs for £4m. That's double the amount we paid for Habib Beye less than a year ago as we mentioned last month. Now at www.beyewatch.co.uk we understand that the economy is in trouble, things are becoming more expensive as inflation rises to almost double the governments target (...'a little bit of politics' as Ben Elton would say) but £4m suggests that Chimbonda is twice as good as Habib Beye. Nonsense!
Now we're biased here at beyewatch, but we think all fans will agree that we don't need Chimbonda causing trouble when he's not first choice. Nor do we really need Stephen Warnock, who The Times suggests we've had a £3m bid for turned down by Blackburn. He's definitely not 1.5 times as good as Habib Beye and we think Keegan should keep the faith with Jose Enrique. Keegan's policy at left back seems a sensible one, back up your first choice ('The Bull') with outstanding youth and cover from second string centre halves (Ben Tozer, Insua from Liverpool and David Edgar). Man Utd have been doing this for years with Gary Neville. Look at the mess when they tried to keep Heinze and Evra happy!
It's not the first time we've said it but the only way that a Chimbonda deal makes sense is if Habib Beye is to move to Centre Back.
Sunday, Monday, Habib Beye
Welcome! www.beyewatch.co.uk was dedicated to all forms of Habib Beye propaganda whilst he played for Newcastle United FC. We're looking for Aston Villa fans to take on the adulation.
Habib Beye loves us (we've met)! Get in touch with us at songs@beyewatch.co.uk
