It's a delight to open the songs@beyewatch.co.uk mailbag and we often receive short bursts of activity from an individual gushing with tributes to Habib Beye. It seems that Big Perm is running hot at the minute and this is surely his opus.
There's a fine line between writing original lyrics to someone elses tune and merely changing a few lines. Big Perm treads this fine line like a tightrope walker with this re-working of the Michael Jackson classic, 'Billie Jean'.
"He was more like a beauty queen from a movie sceneOur apologies for the crudely doctored image...
I said don't mind, but what do you mean you are the one
Who will dance with the ball at your feet
He said I am the one, who will dance with the ball at my feet
He told me his name was Habib Beye, when we met in May
Then every head turned with eyes that dreamed of being the one
Who will dance with the ball at his feet
People always told me be careful of what you do
And dont go around breaking young guys legs
And mother always told me be careful of who you shove
And be careful of what you do cause the lie becomes the truth
Habib Beye is not my brother
He's just a guy who claims that he is the bomb
And the guy is our number one
He says he is the one, and the kid wears twenty one."
